Study Abroad

Students enrolled in the Korean Language Program have the opportunity of going abroad for one academic year as UGA exchange students. We do not send any students only for one semester.

The exchange is one-on-one. This means that for each UGA student going abroad there will be a Korean student coming to UGA.

UGA studnets will pay their tuition and fees at UGA (HOPE applies), and the foreign students will do the same at their own universities. Then, the students will be exchanged. UGA students will pay INSTATE TUITION for the year they are abroad, even if they are out-of-state students. In such cases, studying abroad may be even cheaper than a year at UGA.

Students studying abroad, beside language classes, will also take other classes of their choice - all taught in English. The credits earned abroad will come back to UGA as transfer credits.

Eligibility Criteria:

If you are interested, please do the following:

  1. Discuss the matter with your parents.
  2. If you have the support of your parents, give your language teacher a short written statement about your intention.
  3. If you apply, your performance in the language class will be monitored for good performance and reliability. Students who are not on time for class, are late with homework, or who cut class will not be selected. Dedication and reliability are key issues in the selection process.

More information will follow. For now, please see other study abroad programs, such as the Yonsei University program webiste. You must apply individually to each program, they are not affilliated with UGA, but they offer Korean language courses.
